Lewis Pearson

Lewis is a founding partner and Director at Pearson Caulfield. He is a Higher Court Advocate and a Court and Police Station Duty Solicitor. He has an outstanding reputation in all aspects of Criminal Law and is a daily presence at Newcastle Magistrates Court. For over thirty years Lewis has succeeded in delivering high quality legal advice and remains absolutely committed to achieving outstanding results for his clients.

In his time as a criminal Lawyer Lewis has developed a particular interest and expertise in Prosecutions against teachers, and is a recognised specialist in this area.

Furthermore Lewis frequently receives referrals from large commercial firms in respect of White Collar crime and Fraud. He and Co-Director Paul Caulfield make a formidable team and have a proven record of successfully defending such prosecutions.

Always on the cutting edge of change, Lewis and Paul Caulfield formed the first mixed Solicitor - Barrister Partnership in England, therefore ensuring seamless representation for our clients.

Paul Caulfield

Paul founded Pearson Caulfield together with Lewis Pearson in 1984. Quickly he established himself as one of the most able and sought after criminal lawyers in the region. In 1996, Paul decided to concentrate on his advocacy skills and was called to the bar that year. He practised as barrister from Trinity chambers until 2010. During that time Paul quickly became one of the most well regarded criminal barristers in the North East, dealing with a wealth of complex cases including, murder, fraud and drug conspiracies. He regularly appears before the Court of Appeal. Paul has been instructed across the whole spectrum of criminal cases and has an enviable reputation as an advocate.

Since being called to the Bar, Paul has maintained a practice in Family Law and diversified into Regulatory Law and Licensing receiving instructions from individual defendants as well as prosecuting authorities.

Being the first firm in the country to take advantage of a change in the law, Paul returned to Pearson Caulfield in 2010, as a Director alongside Lewis Pearson. Paul remains one of the most sought after Barristers in the North East and working closely with the rest of our criminal team his expertise will ensure you receive a seamless service from us throughout your case, at the Crown Court and, if necessary the Court of Appeal.

Helen Marshall

Helen is the Director of Family Law at Pearson Caulfield.

Helen is very experienced in dealing with all areas of relationship breakdown, ranging from complex divorce and financial proceedings involving substantial inherited assets and those involving division of significant pension assets, to cases where constructive solutions are required to ensure both parties have sufficient resources to ensure they each have some financial stability for the future.

Helen is committed to achieving a fair result for her clients and will provide you with realistic advice from the outset, working closely with you to establish and meet your short and long term priorities. Helen understands that every case is different and the solution must be the individual circumstances of the case and family involved.

Helen is a member of the Law Society Children Panel. This means that her ability and expertise in representing children and parents faced with legal proceedings, has been recognised by the law society. Helen has a huge amount of experience representing parents faced with care proceedings and especially complex cases. Equally Helen frequently receives in instructions to act for children in legal proceedings.

Helen is also a member of Resolution, an Association of Family Lawyers. The aim of Resolution is to approach and seek solutions in family cases in a constructive way, therefore reducing the risk of proceedings becoming costly and acrimonious. Helen is recognised by Resolution as a Specialist in the area of Children Law and Domestic Abuse.

Sue Pearson

Sue is an extremely experienced member of the family Law team. Sue's client care skills are particularly strong and she is known for her empathetic approach to cases. If you instruct Sue you can be sure she will take time to get to know you and the specific circumstances of your case and she will remain committed to working closely with you throughout your case.

Her particular areas of specialism include relationship break down, dissolution of civil partnerships and divorce. She is especially interested in helping you implement long term arrangements for your children if it is not possible to do so by agreement, Sue will be able to advise and represent you in making an application to the court.

Sue is a recognised specialist in Domestic Abuse and is absolutely committed to ensuring victims of Domestic Abuse obtain the protection and support they require.

In recent years Sue has expanded her practice into Forced Marriage cases and now regularly receives instructions to act on behalf of those seeking to bring or defend an application.

Sue is a member of Resolution, an Association of family lawyers. Sue is recognised by resolution as a Specialist in the area of Children Law and Domestic Abuse.

John Foley

John is a Lawyer of exceptional ability and huge experience. Having practised for well over 30 years he remains in extremely high demand.

John is a Duty Solicitor and a Solicitor Advocate very well experienced at representing clients at the Crown, as well, as Magistrates Court.

John is a particularly highly regarded trial lawyer with an outstanding record of success. Not only are his legal skills without question, he establishes a strong working relationship with his clients, working with you, to achieve excellent results.

Adrian Ions

After studying law Adrian qualified as a solicitor in 1998 and then spent several years practising in London before returning to his native North East. A member of the Duty Solicitor Police Station and Court schemes Adrian specialises in criminal law defence advocacy dealing with all cases from road traffic law to murder and in particular has extensive experience in conducting Magistrates Court trials. He is a member of the Criminal Litigation Accredited Scheme.

Adrian is also experienced at conducting Taxi Licence Appeals with a strong reputation and high success rate.

Paul Oxnard

Paul has worked at Pearson Caulfield through his career. He practises in both criminal and family law.

As a criminal lawyer Paul Oxnard is a Court and Police Station duty Solicitor. He is particular area of expertise is conducting cases at the Magistrates Court, especially trials.

Also an experienced family Lawyer, Paul is especially interested in proceedings relating to contact and residence of children, as well as cases involving Social Services.

Paul is committed to ensuring the clients receive the highest level of service and will always take the time to ensure all of your queries are answered and concerns properly investigated.

John Langers

John joined Pearson Caulfield in February 2014 and is the Head of our Property and Private Client Departments.

He has extensive experience in dealing with Residential and Commercial Property matters including property and business sales and acquisitions. He provides advice and assistance to a wide range of individual and business clients both locally and nationally concerning residential sales and purchases, business set up, assignments of Leases, acquisitions of existing businesses and land development. In addition John also assists his commercial clients in setting up partnerships or limited companies.

His clients include many local businesses, individuals and property investors within Newcastle and throughout the north east.

John also deals with Lease enfranchisements, assisting his clients to acquire the freehold of their properties or to extend their Leases. This can involve presenting applications to the Property Tribunal.

In addition John is also experienced in advising clients concerning their Wills, Probate, Trust arrangements and Court of Protection matters. He provides advice and assistance concerning Inheritance Tax issues and estate planning. He provides his clients with bespoke Wills tailored to their needs and wishes. John also has extensive experience in dealing with Court of Protection cases including Deputyship applications and Lasting Powers of Attorney.
